No-Class Pathway and Potion Progression System
颠覆 MMO!诡秘之主无职业序列魔药曝光!
Lord of Mysteries moves away from traditional MMO classes and builds character growth around Pathways, Sequences, and Potions.
The post focuses on how Beyonder progression changes the usual warrior, mage, and priest class structure.
No-Class Pathway and Potion Progression
Are you still playing MMOs where you choose from the same five to eight classes forever? Are you still grinding through a dozen-plus sects until everything feels the same? The Lord of Mysteries game flips the table on traditional MMO class design. Instead, it uses a supernatural progression system built around 22 Pathways, 10 Sequence tiers, and Potion advancement, giving players a very different growth experience.
This Cthulhu-inspired MMO built with Unreal Engine 5 adapts the landmark web novel by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving. The game recently announced that the Gray Fog Test will open on June 26, with PC, Android, and iOS cross-platform support and a paid wipe-test format. The most anticipated part is that it abandons old-fashioned class and sect systems and replaces them with the Beyonder system from the novel.
So how does this actually play? In simple terms, you do not start by choosing warrior, mage, or priest. You choose a Pathway, such as Spectator, Assassin, or Seer. Each Pathway has its own ability system and growth route, with 22 Pathways in total. After choosing a Pathway, you begin as a Sequence 9 entry-level Beyonder and advance by drinking Potions made from specific formulas. You then move toward Sequence 8, Sequence 7, and eventually Sequence 0, the level of a true god. The whole advancement structure feels strongly ritualistic.
Potions are not something you drink casually. Every Potion has strict main ingredients, supplementary ingredients, and ritual requirements. For example, the Sequence 9 Seer Potion requires strange materials such as crystallized blood from a lava octopus and a stellar crystal. Even collecting materials carries an occult, Cthulhu-like atmosphere. Advancement also requires attention to the risk of Loss of Control, one of the core concepts from the original novel, and the game is expected to restore that feeling.
The most interesting part is that neighboring Pathways can switch into one another. For example, if you become tired of the Spectator Pathway, you may be able to move toward the Secrets Suppliant Pathway. That level of freedom is presented as far beyond a traditional MMO job-change system. Different Sequences within each Pathway also bring unique abilities. A Sequence 9 Assassin is good at stealth and assassination, while by Sequence 4 the character becomes a demigod with much more extraordinary power.
Compared with older MMOs that recycle the same small set of classes, this approach makes Lord of Mysteries feel fresh. Players no longer need to choose only between warrior and mage. Instead, they can pick a favorite Pathway, collect Potion materials, complete rituals, and advance step by step, making progression feel more exploratory.
The game is now recruiting for Gray Fog Test access. The test is scheduled for June 26 and supports PC, Android, and iOS cross-platform play. For fans of the original novel, being able to personally experience the process of becoming a Beyonder in the game is presented as a dream-fulfillment moment.
Overall, by using Pathways, Sequences, and Potions, Lord of Mysteries overturns the traditional MMO class system and offers more freedom and a more immersive role-playing experience. If you are tired of repetitive class choices and want to try a new growth model, this game is worth watching. On June 26, let us go above the gray fog together.
